One of the most successful activities that is organized and run by RJS each spring is the Annual Youth Band Concert held in the Mt. Shasta Mall Food Court. This year the concert will be held Saturday, March 13th, 2010.

The concerts usually start at 10:30 a.m and run to 4:30 p.m.  Participating this year: Anderson High School, Anderson Middle School, Central Valley High School, Cow Creek Elementary School, Enterprise High School, Foothill High School, Parsons Middle School, Sequoia Middle School, and Shasta High School.

RJS, in conjunction with the concert, produces a concert program that lists sponsors in the area who have made a contribution to continue the musical education of Redding's youth. RJS also holds a raffle at the concert to raise additional funds for the bands performing. Both the program and raffle has allowed RJS to make a direct contribution each year to all the schools performing.

Since the event began in March 2000 the Rivercity JAZZ Society and the area's sponsors have donated over $11,000.00 to the school's music program.

If you are in the Redding area, come and listen to these young musicians - they are a delight.
